Overview

This is where the Himalayas bare their soul – a high-altitude dreamscape of sapphire lakes mirroring fighter-jet skies, ancient monasteries humming with mantras, and roads that twist like prayer ribbons around 6,000m peaks. Ladakh isn’t just a destination; it’s a state of mind forged by frosty desert winds, butter tea shared with crimson-robed monks, and nights where silence roars louder than city traffic. Come here to lose your breath (literally) and find your grit.

Tour Highlights

✓ The Road Less Terrifying:

  • Khardung La (5,359m): Snap a humblebrag photo at the “world’s highest motorable road” – just don’t tell your lungs.
  • Pangong Tso: Camp where 3 Idiots did, watching the lake shift from cobalt to tangerine as Himalayan griffons circle overhead.

✓ Monastery Magic:

  • Hemis: Time your visit for June’s masked Cham Festival – cymbals clang, monks whirl, and the air thickens with juniper incense.
  • Thiksey: Dawn prayers with a view – 12-story whitewashed tiers glowing pink as the Stok Range blushes.
  • Lamayuru: Wander “Moonland” caves where hermits meditated for decades, their stone beds still warm with legend.

✓ Village Chronicles:

  • Nubra Valley: Ride Bactrian camels over dunes, double-humped shadows stretching toward Diskit Monastery’s menacing Kali statue.
  • Turtuk: India’s last northern village, where apricot orchards hide Balti homes and grandpas recall when this was Pakistan.

✓ Local Life, Unfiltered:

  • Homestays: Sleep under thiksey blankets in mud-brick homes, waking to gur-gur chai and momos stuffed with wild greens.
  • Alchi’s 11th-Century Café: Sip salty butter tea beside frescoes of Buddha’s birth, painted when Crusaders besieged Jerusalem.

✓ Survival Skills (with a Smile):

  • Acclimatize in Leh for 2 days – stroll the bazaar for pashmina shawls and Ladakhi grandma earrings (tribal bling FTW).
  • Permits? Sorted. Just pack SPF 50+ and wet wipes – showers are rarer than oxygen.

Pro Tip:
Buy a perak (traditional turquoise-studded headdress) but don’t wear it yet – locals will adopt you as their long-lost cousin. 🏔️✨

Note: June–Sept only. Roads open when glaciers permit. Your driver? Half-pilot, half-philosopher.

Tour Plan

Day 01 Leh Arrival

Take an early morning flight to reach Leh, the capital of Ladakh situated at a height of 11800 ft above sea level. As you land at the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, transfer to your hotel is promptly arranged. Check into your room and spend the day taking rest and adapting to the low air pressure, which is necessary to settle yourself to the high altitudes of Ladakh. Late afternoon, visit Shanti stupa, a true Buddhist architectural gem. Use the evening to scout local markets. Overnights stay is at the hotel.

Day 02 Leh - Spituk - Pather Sahib - Leh

After a leisurely breakfast, we'll drive to Spituk. Today we'll cover Spituk Monastery, the famous Magnetic Hills, the confluence of Indus and Zanskar River near Nimoo and visit Pather Sahib, an important Sikh Pilgrimage Site.

Day 03 Pangong Lake (Leh)

Day 3 starts with a full day excursion to Pangong Lake which is a 135 km drive from Leh. The Pangong Lake is nearly 140km long and 3-5km wide and more than half of it lies in Tibetan territory. Since you return by the evening, you can roam about Leh's local markets looking for a deal or two. OverNights stay is at the hotel.

Day 04 Khardungla Pass (Leh)

Morning of the fourth day begins with a visit to Khardungla Pass at 18360 ft which, not surprisingly, is the world's highest motorable pass.

Day 05 Monasteries and Palaces

Today is the day for cultural immersion in and around Leh. Sightseeing will include a visit to Thiskey Gompa, one of the most breathtaking monasteries in Ladakh. We would also visit Shey Palace in the vicinity. After that we'd go to Hemis which hosts one of the most well-known festivals in Ladakh. After visiting the monasteries we will drive to Stok Palace Museum which showcases royal artefacts and paraphernalia.

Day 06 Pangong - Leh Return

Early morning transfer to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport on time to board flight for onward destination.
